Untangled
“Curiosity is what keeps my creativity going, not only in my business, but in my garden and in so many areas of my life.” Excerpt from Bright Shiny Object Project Podcast
Happy Monday!
Can you remember the last time that you truly tapped into your creativity? You know those moments in time your when your imagination is in the flow and goes to places that delight you. You simply get lost in the joy of what you were doing.
Sometimes this process can feel like doing hard things until you remove the obstacles and let your imagination truly take over.
This past weekend I had the joy of having no other obligations but to play in my garden. As I was humming along, I got stopped in my fun by an unforeseen situation where I had to literally get the problem untangled before moving forward.
You see I had a new lavender plant baby I needed to get into the ground and realized while digging the hole that I had a big problem on my hands. The bed I wanted to put the new plant in had become completely overgrown by an unsuspecting flower. The white yarrow (see picture above).
Now I had known for a couple of years that this flower was becoming super invasive in this garden bed, but I enjoyed the flower and tried to look past it. The result, the bed was choking with this “innocent” flowers long reaching and over aggressive roots.
What transpired was a whole lot of work for Ed and me, but it was worth it as the irrigation that had gotten tangled as well was fixed and the bed became so much healthier because of the untangling that we did.
I will miss the white yarrow flower and its beautiful leaves, but it just wasn’t worth it in the end.
Think about something in your life that may be stopping you in some way. You know that you need to untangle a situation perhaps that is stifling your creativity, maybe a relationship, or maybe something in your business. You want to find a solution, but you know that under the surface of the problem is more problems that are getting you all tangled up and so pretending they don't exist at times can seem easier.
However, problems only seem to multiply when we try to ignore them. More often than not, the sooner we can untangle the situation the less work it can be to actually move on.
This week on Bright Shiny Object Project podcast I am tapping into Growing Your Imagination. I take a deep dive into looking at ways to keep your creativity working like clockwork. Unarguably our imagination is one of our greatest assets as human beings. Keeping it healthy and growing is the kindest thing we can do for ourselves.
So what do you say? How about a little creative play as summer creeps closer and closer towards us! Have a great week ahead!
