Creating Your Masterpiece
To me the first step to accomplishing anything is to believe that you can do it, and I know you can do it. – Bob Ross
What is the masterpiece you want your creativity to uncover this week? The creative flow that you would like to have oozing from you as you let your imagination run free.
Over this past rainy weekend here in Colorado I watched the documentary on Netflix about the life Bob Ross. Bob as you may remember was the creative talent behind the Joy of Painting TV show that ran on PBS for so many years.
I can remember watching him many, many, times over the years. Usually when I was channel surfing and just seeing him and his gentle way with the paint brush got me to stop and watch every time. It was not only amazing the way he painted but the gently words he would share as he painted.
The documentary showed while Bob had great success as an artist just how much he went through in his business dealings with his management partners. Resulting in losing everything he ever worked for upon his death and leaving nothing for his family to carry on with his legacy for him. It became about greed and the almighty profits for someone else to gain.
Watching this story was a confirmation and reminder as creative entrepreneurs that no matter how creative or successful you are in business you have to pay attention to the details. There are people out there who truly only care about their bottom line – not yours. Bob got it right on finding your creative genius he just missed out on the taking care of the business details part.
Sadly, I have seen this time and time again over the years in not only being a small business owner myself but in working with so many small business owners. I believe that it comes down to creating systems that work for you so that your creativity and imagination can come out and play while minding your bottom line. After all the creativity fun is the best part of owning your own small business.
Yes, we all want and of course need to make money, but we want to create as well. It’s the life blood to any entrepreneur. We just have to pay attention and to think about what we want the legacy of our masterpiece to be. And each of our masterpieces come in so many shapes and sizes.
This month we will be exploring more of the importance our imagination plays in our lives and businesses. To keep the fire and fuel of our creative spirits alive.
And in case you missed my special message email last Thursday, I am also offering my Morning Momentum Challenge for only $21 right now. This my friend is a great way to get your creativity going as you greet each day with the space and freedom to tap into your mind as you go slow and steady into each day.
I am also doing these live over on my Instagram Stories each morning for the first 21 days of June. This morning was spectacular with an amazing sunrise to the east as I also watched a moonset to the west. The energy of it really got me going to write you this letter today.
Here’s to a good day and week to be on the planet. Wishing you many creative endeavors as you go!
