The Waiting Game

Blaming others gives your power away. – Sally Field

First off, I want to start this week’s Victory Letter welcoming a number of new readers. Happy to have you here along with the many others I get to share this Monday morning inspiration with each week.

And with that, let’s just jump right in with this week’s question.

What could you change in your life right now without waiting for someone else, some life situation, or set of circumstances that you have no control over?

Think about where you have taken your foot off the gas pedal in business or in your overall life situations because you have been waiting for someone else to fix things first so you can proceed.

I spent this past Mother’s Day weekend beginning to move all my plant babies that I had started from seed indoors to the outdoors. I got a little carried away this year and have over 60 plants to get growing outdoors.

And you know what, the plants did not like this idea one bit. After all, they had it very nice and cozy under the LED lights indoors with perfect weather conditions.

In the gardening world they call this process hardening off. The idea is that you start taking the plants out for a few hours each day for about a week to get them acclimated to the real world they will now be living in.

The hardening off process is a lot of work no doubt and I almost killed them off one day by leaving them outside way too long. But slowly but surely and with a lot of perseverance on all our parts, my plants and I are making it through and by later this week they will all be in the ground.

What if we could take on this perspective when beginning to make a change happen in our lives. A few steps at time, taking our best skills and talents, not blaming anyone or anything for putting obstacles in our way, staying focused on getting the change we desire to happen.

Sometimes a shift in attitude, or in changing just one or two elements about a situation can make all the difference. What do you have the power to change in the week ahead or at the very least begin the “hardening off” process?

And as you head into this week, remember to breathe. Inhale in all that fills your heart and exhale all that no longer serves you. Let’s make some change happen.
