Power Plant

"A beautiful plant is like having a friend around the house." – Beth Ditto

Fall is such an interesting time of year. The beauty of the season keeps growing with each day… and yet we know that at any time everything will change, and the frozen realities of winter will be upon us.

Yet, how can you not enjoy this time of year with perfect weather kind of days and the beauty of the leaves with their gold and red hues. I feel like I was given an extra dose of the garden this year when it survived that freak snowfall a month ago.

I have been moving many of my potted plants indoors since then in anticipation of the freeze that will soon come (predicted even this week). Amazingly one pot I moved in a few weeks back had a hibiscus plant in it that had not bloomed in over two years.

Moving it indoors I figured I would just keep nurturing it in case it decided to change its mind. I do think of many of my potted plants as my friends and when they come back indoors in the fall it seems that they bring a new and improved energy shift to our home. The outdoor friends come in.

On Friday morning as I sat in my meditation spot which is near the hibiscus plant. I looked up to see that it was starting to bloom the most beautiful yellow flower! Hooray! I was so excited. On Saturday morning it was in full on bloom and so beautiful! Today’s pic above was that moment.

I share this with you because plants I believe contain power. People will say to me, I don’t have a green thumb in my body, but I believe that is believed because they give up before fully trying to nurture a plant.

It’s like the creativity challenge we are currently embarked on, (#artistswaychallenge2020) you can’t say you are not creative if you don’t give your creativity a fair shot.

So, here is my challenge for you this week. If you have plants in your home spend time with them. Maybe rearrange them to give them new energy, especially in the places you spend the most time. Get the dust off of them if it has built up.

If you have outdoor plants, which ones can you bring in and have them spend the winter cozy inside with you. Be sure to give them a good spraying down of water to get of any hanging on outside bugs.

If currently you are plant free – get a single plant. Go to a local nursery if possible and spend some time looking for the plant that calls to you. Ask for assistance before buying in understanding the best light and care for the plant. And, if you are so inclined, get a little dirt and replant it into a beautiful pot. Or buy one just as is.

And then as the outside world starts to freeze up you will be warm and cozy indoors with your sweet plant that will energize you. Warning though… it can become an addiction. One that I love very much!

Here’s to a great week ahead with lots of energy headed your way!
