Mother of Invention
Continuing to clear my habitat (aka home) this past week of items no longer necessary in my life, I had a huge realization. The more layers I removed of paperwork long forgotten, along with furniture and nick knacks that were no longer are serving me, the more I discovered what really mattered most to me both in my work and in my overall life.
The process was incredibly freeing as I continued to ask myself, what new ingredients do you long to create for your life?
Removing the layers that had grown stagnant, I feel as if something new is opening up for me. New possibilities, new inventions that couldn’t find their way to me because of some of the clutter that I had managed to gather along the way.
Now don’t get me wrong. I love my life, my home, my business … perhaps it is this pandemic and the many new realities that it has given to all of us about just how precious this life of ours is that brought me to re-examining what I could do even better.
Mother of Invention is a term that means that the primary driving force for most new inventions is having a need for the invention and/or change. I would say most of us have a need right now to look at a part of our life that could use a bit of reinvention with all that has gone on over the last few months.
When we think of our roles as leaders at home and at work, the ability to create empowering and endearing components that enhance the lives of not only ourselves, but others as well is crucial. Especially right now as we make our way through this pandemic, we need the ability to adapt to the circumstances we have been given. Then looking it straight on figure out how to make the best of an overall crappy situation.
Musician Ani DiFranco put it this way, “In order to keep anything cultural, logical, or ideological, you have to reinvent the reality of it.” The idea of a renaissance coming from all that is going on in our lives right now has an appealing sound to it for me. How about you?
We can fight it or reinvent what we want our lives to look like on the other side of this catastrophic event. Especially if we have the goodness of our life as we move through it.
Have you been wanting to say more to the world online but not sure what to say or where to say it? In this week’s podcast I share more on how to be a Content Hero to get your voice further out into the world with info from my popular workshop, How to Create Engaging Content.
A world is out there that wants to hear what you have a to say. Even, or most especially, if you are doing it from the comfort of your own home.
As you meander through this week of possibilities with no doubt more unique and unknown outcomes, look through the lens of re-invention and discover what may be waiting for you on the other side of all this unknown.
One thing I know for sure… we have the power to come from the inside out to be what we want to be. To create inventions, especially our own re-invention.
Have an awesome week ahead!
