Peace, Love and Chocolate
Peace, Love and Chocolate, don’t you just love the feel-good sound of that combination? In my 3-month writing challenge that I am one month into, this was the recent writing prompt. What I have found is that each of these words is a complete sentence into themselves.
Peace. I have discovered about myself over the last 3 months of the pandemic is that peace within myself is what is most important on any given day. Because let’s face the fact without feeling peace from within it can be so much harder if not near impossible to contribute to the overall peace in the world.
Now you could argue that without peace in the world - how can you find peace from within? This makes me stop to think of the notable leaders of peace making efforts that have gone before us. The one that shines is Mother Theresa. The inner peace that she gained from her spirituality, she then went on to unselfishly share with the world until her last breath.
Perhaps the key with peace is to find the spiritual side of your nature, whatever that looks like for you. I know for sure that getting off the “busy” treadmill for so many people over these past three months has had them stop to look within, myself included. I feel renewed in so many ways as I have been sharing in the past weeks in this letter.
There have been rough times to be sure and I have heard and felt the term “roller coaster emotions” often. How about you?
Cautiously optimistic as we move into the new normal of our lives I think leads us towards the next word...
Love. My greatest wish as we move forward is that we find a mutual love and respect for each other. To quote Mother Teresa again she said, “Love begins at home, and it’s not how much we do but how much love we put into the action.”
On today’s podcast I share a conversation I had last week with Kathey Pear, Founder and CEO of Pear Project Services. Kathey shares the love she has for leading with her most recent company started in 2015 as a “social enterprise” even before she knew that the term social enterprise was a thing.
Finally, we come to…
Chocolate. The word goodness comes to mind and the feeling you get that all is right with the world when you bite into a delicious piece of chocolate. Everything else, all the problems of the world, seems to melt away in those enjoyable moments.
If you are feeling a low dip in your roller coaster ride this week, I wish you a piece or two of yummy chocolate (I like dark best) along with lots of Peace and Love. It really does make the world go round.
