The Greater Good

Our maturity will be judged by how well we are able to agree to disagree and yet continue to love one another, to care for one another, and cherish one another and seek the greater good of the other.

- Desmond Tutu

Welcome back to another week on the planet. For those of you here in the US, hope you had a lovely 4th of July weekend.

We hung close to home with a few excursions to see friends, ride bicycles and yesterday morning headed out on an enjoyable motorcycle ride.

And in between it all – a ton of gardening was done. Because after all it is my greatest addiction. Hanging out with mother nature, the plants, birds, butterflies, bees, and even a gardener snake that has been hanging around that we have named Gary and a frog named Freddie.

One of the things I love so much about gardening is the opportunity it gives me to simply think while watching nature do its thing.

One of the thoughts that was running through my head this weekend is this idea around “the greater good.” Asking, what can we do for the greater good of ourselves, our loved ones, and perhaps even more importantly those who we barely know?

A simple smile shared to a passing stranger, a good morning as you walk past someone on the hiking trail or city sidewalk, making eye contact as you do so.

In my garden club we recently decided to help another member in the club to begin the much needed renovation to her garden. To be able to come together to assist her was so gratifying on so many levels. She is a single mom who does so much for the community.

To know that we are helping to create a place for her to find peace and joy is right there in the greater good list of things. For me anyway…how about you? Would love for you share your thoughts and experiences with how the greater good has touched your life. Just hit reply and let me know.

In many, if not most, instances of acts for the greater good, tenacity is required. Thus, one of the reasons I started Tenacity Tuesdays for the unforeseeable future while the podcast is on a little hiatus. Every Tuesday at Noon mst, I will be interviewing people live who have stepped out of their comfort zone using their tenacity to create something that makes the world a better place.

This includes the greater good for themselves as well as the world around them. Today’s guest is Annie Amrich who left her corporate job to start Janniebird Farms. A flower farm located right here in Boulder County. Follow us @businessvictories on Instagram to be notified when we go live. The recordings will also be there after the live event.

In future weeks we will be looking at streaming on You Tube and Facebook as well for those of you who are not on Instagram. That will require me getting on my tech game on for the greater good …right? ;)

As we begin these steps into the second half of 2020 let's be good and do good. What do you think?

To Your Success and Victories,
