Foundational Frequency

As the rain falls outside my window this morning and I take a deep breath and then let it go as another week begins.

Friday afternoon I made the commitment to finally after two months of working every single day trying to solve the hurt in world to let go and fully unplug.

My goal was to tap into a new frequency, a deeper frequency, a kinder frequency inside of my own head. To let go of needing to tap into Instagram, the news, email, the outside world as a whole and to fully take my pulse to see how it was that I was actually doing.

I share this with you because as I prepare for my re-entry this morning, I am doing it cautiously. Being mindful of what brings me joy. What serves me so that I can better serve others. For me to be the best I can be by keeping my foundation strong.

Over the course of the weekend, the lesson I needed to learn unfolded for me as I watched a Robin attempting to build a nest on the roof of a bird house that is under the eave of our house. It was a strange spot and busy spot right outside our slider doors.

The roof of the bird house was sloped so that all her nesting efforts were epically failing as her foundation was not sturdy. Not only was she not getting her nest built but she was making a mess all over our deck. However, she kept working tirelessly in making a home for her babies.

When we awoke on Sunday the nest was much improved but with any gust of wind it would be down again. My sweet husband decided to step in when she was gone from the nest and he put two simple c clamps on edge of the roof to hold the nest securely in place. That seems to have done the trick and as of this morning she has built a beautiful solid nest.

The lesson learned (again) is to always build that strong foundation. Even during times, such as we are going through, in fact, most especially during these times, we have to be sure to stop and assess that our efforts are moving us in the right direction.

When we are feeling out of sorts, sometimes a simple readjustment is all we need.

As I gardened over the weekend (my happy place to be sure) I listened once again to the words of James Clear in his book Atomic Habits. His words reminded me that showing up for what you want is step one in reforming any habit that is no longer serving you.

With that I am excited to begin a major revamp of my home office. To change the frequency and get rid of the many things that I have watched accumulate in the space I have spent so many of my waking hours over the past 20 years. I am excited about the possibilities that I do have 100% control of bringing to life.

What is your big project for May that will move you forward? That will put more smiles on your face?

What are the baby steps that will take you there? What is the metaphoric c clamp you can put in place to hold up what is most important to you right now?

I invite you to challenge yourself to take a deeper look at what you want and how you will get there. Asking yourself that all important question… If not now, when?

Finally, I leave you with this Irish Proverb and wish…

May the face of every good news, and the back of every bad news be towards us.
