Energy Force

The purpose of creation is to reveal the creator.

- Elder Efrem

One of the pieces I love most about gardening, and about in life in general, is the vast number people, places, and things we have to discover during our time on the planet.

It is always of great amazement to me when you learn something new and then within days of the new discovery you keep getting confirmations that enforces the wisdom received.

Last week I learned from a fellow gardener and then a flower farmer, both who I follow on Instagram, that seeds that are grown on flowers are the most fertile when the flower is left to expire on the stem.

Their reasoning makes perfect sense as you are allowing the plant that no longer needs to put the nutrients into the spent flower, to then put that energy force into the seeds for next seasons flowers to come.

Now the perfectionist in me has been having a hard time with this concept as I usually snip off the waning flowers for the beauty of the garden. Now I am hesitating and finding the balance to allow for more flowers to grow where they can, while allowing others that are dying off to remain in place.

But mind you, I need to be careful in some cases to have too many seeds flying all over the garden as the bird’s like to munch on them as well. I did a little video yesterday to share more about this in action in the garden.

With my favorite analogy hat on this morning, I am thinking about the seeds getting the most nutrients and how that process can apply to so many things in our lives. How we must balance for the future while making sure we have what we need to make life bountiful in this day.

I have been deep in creation of a free program called the Grow Sessions that is all around this idea of understanding where our best energy sources can be found. I will share a link for you in next week’s Victory Letter.

In the meantime, I am excited to share with you this week on Tenacity Tuesday, a live conversation with Linda Vater. Linda is a woman who took her love for gardening, blended it with her tenacity, and created an inspiring brand (to say the least). With a following of over 100,000 people on both Instagram and You Tube she has become and influencer with quite a story to tell.

This year, even after a devastating ice storm that decimated her beautiful garden in Oklahoma City in late 2020, she launched a line of gardening products on QVC, wrote a beautiful new book, The Elegant and Edible Garden (currently available for pre-order) and has continued to consistently share her journey. Join us for this rich and compelling conversation.

As you move into this fast-paced month of September (how did it get to be the 13th already!) think about putting into your intentions how you can get the most out of what you already have grown around you. In other words, reassess your what is an energy sucks, and what is your greatest energy source that will give you an energy force for some time to come.
