Curious Growth
Constant growth is not just a part of nature, but part of your nature. Even if you can’t see it, you’re always growing, like a majestic tree reaching toward the sun. – Jay Shetty
Last night we had the most glorious rain happening as we drifted off to sleep. Since we don’t get that much rain it is always so appreciated when we do. And this morning as I look at how happy the outside world is around me, I am feeling very grateful.
Ironically, or not, I wanted to share the idea this morning having to do with growth…
So, this year I got pretty carried away with tomato plants. Starting them as seedlings back in the darker days of winter (something I had never done before) into the bounty that is currently coming my way.
One of the things I learned during the process is there are two kinds of tomato plants, determinate and indeterminate.
Determinate meaning that they are limited to only so much growth.
Indeterminate meaning that they have unlimited growth potential.
Luckily without knowing it I choose seeds that were indeterminate which has contributed to our amazing crop of ongoing tomatoes.
This got me to thinking about how each of us look at growth and the change that comes with it in our lives. Do we make it determinate by stifling our dreams and creativity?
Or, do we make our lives indeterminate by giving ourselves the time and space to grow and make our deepest dreams and desires actually happen? All the while being sure to enjoy the process by embracing the change that will inevitably come into our lives.
I vote for indeterminate – how about you?
Hope you are cruising into this week with grace, ease, and a very strong curiosity!
