A Big Surprise
Life is what you make it...so make it good! - Sammy
Yesterday was one of those life making days that will go down in my memory bank as unforgettable. Not only did I turn 65 but my husband Ed gave me such a big surprise. At 7am yesterday morning I found myself gliding through the air in a hot air balloon, something that has been on my bucket list for a very long time.
Oh, and the experience did not disappoint! There I was high in the sky with the beauty of the Colorado Front Range and Rocky Mountains beyond them before me. To add to the beauty a beautiful moon as well was getting ready to set over the mountains. I really was in my happy place, a place that had me filled with so much peace!
As we floated along, high in the sky, there was a combo of awe, love, and gratitude for the life I have been given and the beautiful place we live. And the aging part? Not to be cliché but what I will say here with 65 years on the scorecard is that with each passing year life does get better for the most part.
Sure, there have been highs and lows along the way, but I have grown to know myself better through it all and be lucky enough to embrace the beauty of this world.
So that’s the main message I want to share this week. Take the time to savor the surprises that come along big and small, remembering we aren’t just getting older… we are getting better.
Also, a shout out to the amazing team at Fair Winds Hot Air Balloons. They made the experience not only special but gave each of us “Aeronauts” as they called us an official Certificate of Ascension, complete with our picture commemorating the event. Extra touches of kindness and excellent customer service always make me smile.
Check out the Instagram Video Reel I made of the experience. Here’s to your having many reasons to smile as well in the week ahead.
