Building a Bouquet

Today in case you don’t know is National Acts of Kindness Day as well as MLK Day. Seems rather appropriate don't you think.
Last week as I began to feel the heaviness of winter, I went out and bought myself a lovely bouquet of flowers to show some kindness to myself. What happened almost immediately when I got home and unwrapped the bouquet, one of the lovely lily buds fell off its stem.
Now I could have discarded it and given up that beautiful flower that was never to be…or, which is what I did do, stick it into a little water all by itself and get it to bloom without the stem. The result is in the picture above. It did bloom and bloomed beautifully.
Just like the flower bouquet there are so many elements to our life that we are building. The things that we want to have happen in our life that will make us happy. Sometimes, most times life plays out differently than expected.
When things don’t go as planned what if, instead of getting bummed out about what didn’t happen you did a rethink for the outcome to be different. Think of the strength that Martin Luther King, Jr brought to the table.
Build it anyway in another way.
Open your heart to the possibilities
Uniquely make your life your own.
Quit complaining and just do it differently.
Understand that life really is what you make it.
Enjoy what you can as you can.
Take the time to smell your own lily’s along the way.
