A Milestone
Slower is Kinder. – Jena Bedson
This morning as I sit to write the words to today’s Victory Letter it is surreal to me that I am doing so with the milestone of 20 years behind me of sending this out most Monday mornings.
When I set out to write this letter as a 20 year younger me, I had primarily one goal in mind…to find something positive each Monday morning to write about and share via email. Because after all Monday’s didn’t have to be so bad…right?
The times, when I started, were uncertain. Over all these years and all these letters later, I have come to learn that most of our time is uncertain. The important element that we can add to our life is recognize and celebrate as many moments as we can. To not wait for tomorrow to take the steps that matter most to us right now.
However, and this is a big however, doing so at a pace that is kind to our sanity and the sanity of those around us.
From these letters came two books, The Victory Letters – Inspiration for the Human Race and Victory One Moment at a Time – The Power of the Mastermind.
All of this has been a joy for me create as I have explored so many topics and life events. I have watched and wrote about my children going from childhood to adulthood. Watched our world continue to turn with the past year being perhaps the biggest wake-up call of all.
A year that forced us to slow down and journey within ourselves to find safety and peace from the pandemic that touched so much of our day to day lives. Life as we knew it was changed in ways we never could have even imagined.
As we have now begun to step back out into social events in person, removing our masks when in public places, and watch the world re-open it has been a time for continuing to honor the lessons learned.
Remembering that if the word “busy” comes up too much in my vocabulary that it means it’s time to step back and get less busy so that I can also stop and smell the roses. Or the poppies in the picture today that arrived in my garden over the weekend.
To remember, as the words from today’s quote that my friend Jena Bedson shared in a recent post – “Slower is Kinder.” The importance to not run ourselves ragged going, going, and then going some more.
To have time for our friends and family in deeper and more caring ways. To pursue our passions and purpose in life that give us meaning.
And that Zoom isn’t all that bad and allows us to be together without the time and ecological cost of traveling to get to places.
As you make it back out in the world this week remember these words, slower is kinder, as we spread kindness and allow our victories to move us forward.
Thank you for being a part of this journey with me!
