Timing Growth

look around for a place to sow a few seeds

“Rome wasn’t built in a day” is coming to mind as I start to write this week’s letter to you. It’s based on the thinking that it takes one step to lead to another, as the fruits of our labors start to make sense and take us towards what we are wanting to achieve.

The analogies between two things I love, running a business and growing a garden is something I can’t help and have intertwine this time of year as I look towards the growing seasons of both.  How they have similar needs to gain the success desired.

In the garden I have about 15 growing beds that will need to be cultivated, the soil tiled, seeds planted, and new plants brought in. It can easily become overwhelming without a doubt.

I have learned over the years to take it one bed at a time, keeping in mind the harshness of Spring here in Colorado when it comes to planting. Careful consideration goes into what needs to happen now and what must wait until May.

In business, the same can be true with the number of roles and responsibilities I have as CEO here at the Victory Circles. The buck stops with me and no one else when it comes to everything from sales and marketing, to insuring there is enough cash flow generating throughout the business.

Then there is performing the task of what the company does for the money it makes. In my case, that’s coaching my clients to run stronger businesses, facilitating Master Mind groups, and teaching workshops for small businesses to help them gain the knowledge for greater success.

They say that money does not grow on trees - however, the money that is generated in our small businesses does grow from the seeds we plant. I love this quote from Dr. Robert Schuler who said, “Anyone can count the seeds in an apple, but only god can count the number of apples in a seed.” The same is true in the seeds we plant and the multitudes of growth it can bring.

What are you planning on planting this week that can take root and grow at this particular time? Do you have the patience to nurture and promote that growth?

Brick by brick, step by step, seed by seed, that which we want in our lives will come to life. If you give it the space, time, belief, and knowledge... it will happen.

Happy Planting!

Here is to your Successes and Victories,
