Sugar Please
In every job that must be done there is an element of fun. – Mary Poppins.
Someone asked me a question last week that has been rattling around in my head… a lot. Questions after all can be very powerful in bringing awareness to the forefront. The question was, what do you do for fun?
Such a simple question that I used to be able to answer quickly and easily. But last week I felt stuck on the answer because quite frankly I haven’t been having that much fun. And as I write this to you this morning because I know that I am not alone.
To make matters even worse, we lost our dear Aunt Margie to Covid late last week. What I now know to be true is that of course you look at this whole mess of Covid a lot differently when it takes away someone that you love.
Somehow the words to Mary Poppins, Spoonful of Sugar song came into my head over the weekend. Wouldn’t it be awesome if just popping in a spoonful of sugar into our mouths could solve everything?
Now don’t get me wrong, I love my work and I do find the element of fun in it as Mary sings about. In fact, I took a happiness quiz just this morning and it turns out that I am at 98% in happiness with my work when the global average is 68 (something to be fixed). However, the fun in staying home mostly all the time is getting old.
We remedied it a bit last week by going on a hike in the mountains with our pooch and it cleared out some of the cobwebs. Check out this fun video we did to celebrate. However, knowing that we are months away from getting out of this Covid mess I thought I would ask you what you are doing for fun these days.
The idea is to compile a list of fun pandemic activities that are safe and can keep us from going crazy and share it in next week’s Victory Letter.
One thing I do and have loved since March is most Friday’s having a happy hour via Zoom with my besties that I grew up with. The laughter from these calls are indeed medicine to me in so many ways.
So how about you? What are you doing to beat the Covid blues beyond that spoonful of sugar?
In this week’s podcast I am sharing some antidotes for helping in the workspace in talking about the Power of Purpose. Our work can redirect some of this negative energy that is happening to be sure.
However, what if you have lost sight of your purpose or are not sure of what values are being compromised with the way you have to work right now?
Here is the PDF Worksheet mentioned in today’s podcast.
Some more ideas to beat the blues...
Connection is important as well in our keeping sanity. Reach out to 2 or 3 people this week and see how they are doing either by phone or Zoom.
And maybe just a little sugar can bring a smile as well. Today’s picture is compliments of daughter Bailey who makes the yummiest of healthy sweet treats. In fact, she is doing a sweets class via Zoom tomorrow night that could indeed bring some fun into your week. I will be there!
Last but not least today to help you or someone you care about along is the reminder that this is the last day for $100 off the Grow Circles Coaching programs. Get the support you need for the months ahead as it is definitely not going to be business as usual!
Wishing you fun in ways that bring long lasting smiles in the week ahead.
