Relationship Renovation

“When we take care of what is inside of us, that is how we gain greater relationships not only within us but in every one of our relationships.” – Sheila Unique

Go ahead and stop whatever it is you are doing in this moment and give yourself a big hug. It’s Monday morning and you probably could use a big hug. I know I sure can.

After a weekend full of planting for hours upon hours in my garden, it’s time to shift gears and look at what is in store for the week ahead. Part of me would like to just head back into the garden enjoying the quiet and peace filled place it puts me in, but as the saying goes… the show must go on.

And since I am the star of my show, just like you are the star of your show, we better get that star shined and jump into what’s ahead for us in this week of our lives. Paying attention to our relationship with our own self as well as the other people that will come into our lives

In today’s podcast I have a conversation with Coach Sheila Unique a Relationship Renovator. What is so interesting is how Sheila talks, from the basis of her new book Relatefully, how it really begins from the relationship with the person you hang out with 24/7, you.

It is difficult to have a good relationship with others if you are not treating yourself with love and kindness.

I read something last week around the emotion of anger. Don’t know if you have noticed it as well, but there seems to be more anger and a true lack of patience going around. And I get it…we have all been through so much in the past year.

What is important to understand from a place of compassion is that the ongoing feeling of anger is an indication that change needs to happen. And can also stem from ongoing depression. That is why it is so important to do your check-in daily with yourself to understand what is running your emotions which leads to your overall performance in life.

I have talked often in this letter about the power of morning meditation, morning momentum as I like to call it. This can be as simple as spending time saying kind and uplifting words to yourself.

Something like a Metta prayer can start you day with a positive mantra to readjust your thinking in a selflove kind of way such as:

May I be free from fear and harm

May I be happy just the way I am

May I be at peace with whatever comes

May I live gently in softness of my own heart

This time of year, as I get my hands deeper in the dirt, watching the world of nature waking up all around, it is such a great reminder of the true simplicity of life. The elements that can be seen in the tulips, tree flowers and an assortment of beauty that shows their little faces only at this time of year.

Loving ourselves as we let that love make other’s lives better, richer, stronger I believe is the cure for what ails us all.

Here is to a great and harmonious week ahead taking care of you first!
