Puddle Jumping

To succeed jump as quickly at opportunities as you do at conclusions. – Benjamin Franklin

In a few weeks I head to California to witness and celebrate my daughter’s marriage to her prince charming. When she was a little girl, this day was imagined over and over, more than I ever even imagined my own wedding day.

Well here we are at this time in her life and of course, we are smack dab in the middle of a pandemic. Celebrations in 2020 are hard to pull off in the ways we imagined they would be. No doubt we have some big stuff ahead of us as we safely and carefully travel to California.

The thought came to me that we are living in a time of puddle jumping. I remember as a child loving to jump from water puddle to water puddle after a big rain in order to see which one would give me the biggest splash.

Strength is required to jump from one puddle to another . In this case from one life event to another. Courage is also required when you don’t know how deep the puddle is going to be.

It is important to navigate carefully from one puddle to the other as life does continue on and celebrations and life events need to happen.

My daughter, Bailey, deserves to marry the man she loves and to have the people she loves most around her. It will just have to be different. And we will have to prepare differently than we had previously imagined when they first got engaged last year (which seems like a lifetime ago).

We are working on our immune systems to make them strong something Bailey is a big advocate of as well in the work that she does. It’s interesting in this time of mask wearing, washing our hands, and social distancing little talk is in the news around making your body stronger to help fight off the virus.

This all requires lots and lots of extra doses of energy.

On this week’s podcast I share a conversation with Nicole Irlbeck founder of Restoration Fitness around the idea of how we gain energy by moving our bodies.

Nicole is also going to be our live guest on the next Wisdom Webinar Episode tomorrow.

As Nicole shared in the podcast, "Sometimes we need to just hit need to hit the pause button and feel like we can restore our strength, restore our confidence, restore our sense of who we are, sometimes it’s restoring just a sense of ease in our body because we all carry some pain at a certain point."

What puddles do you have in front of you? What celebrations do you want to be sure to have in a whole different way than you ever imagined, keeping yourself and those you love safe in the process?

I can’t wait to share with you pictures in the weeks ahead of the celebration we experience with our baby girl. In the meantime, here is to carefully maneuvering your puddles so that you can get the biggest splash in the week ahead!
