Obstacle to Opportunity

Push past the obstacles. All confidence means is that you have the power to figure things out.
— Brendon Burchard

As we move into the second week of the year there has more than likely been an obstacle or two that has already in some shape or form found its way towards blocking some of your path.

It could be something such as acts of nature like the huge dumping of snow we had here in Colorado last week to elements within your business that have stopped you completely in your tracks.

You know, those things that have made you to rethink where you are headed and why?

We are getting dangerously close to the 15th of January. That is the day when 92% of the people abandon their goals primarily because of the obstacles (big and small) that get in the way.

A big culprit to dropping goals is the lack of confidence that does not allow us to reach past the perceived impossibility to make our goals and dreams a reality.

For me, my obstacle started as a sore throat and then brought me down for the count with an over the top, nasty cold virus.

There I was in the mental fog of this cold, absolutely no voice, the holidays happening, my family visiting home, and all that comes at the beginning of a new year in my business.

It became a catalyst among a few other issues that were put before me as to the destiny of the Marketing Warrior Weekend that was scheduled to happen this past weekend. This very special event I had been working on for the last 6 months.

Through it all, my body had now decided just not to cooperate and was clearly demanding my attention to rest.  I was at a crossroads and one that seemed impossible to navigate.  To put it mildly, I was stressed to the max.

Then came my daughter’s simple words as she was sitting by my bed, “Mom what if you just rescheduled the event a few weeks?”

Immediate resistance popped up in my thinking of this, as it seemed impossible to do.

People are counting on me.  I had made a commitment.  Yet as I sat there getting my thoughts around the idea of pushing the date back 1 month, I realized my body was actually already beginning to relax. I let go of the stress I had been swirling in.

Have you ever noticed how sometimes we can get so stuck in our suffering, that we actually lose site of the reason for the obstacle and in finding the best solution?

The suffering becomes the story and the story becomes the excuse not to change.

We can make ourselves miserable in the process, creating so much extra stress in our lives and also in the lives of those around us.  When we’re stuck in the pain of the obstacle, we can’t see the opportunity.

The truth is that both the suffering and the unnecessary stress it causes can hold us back in so many ways from our true happiness and joy.  After all, isn’t that the ultimate goal we are all looking to achieve?

  • Could you possibly be living in a story of suffering that is currently not serving you?

  • Is it keeping you from your greatest desires?

  • Does this suffering stop your goals from happening year after year?

Take a deep look (as I did) at what would happen if you just shifted a few things around. Put your efforts towards making the end goal just look a bit different without abandoning it all together.

In my case, I decided to throw it out to the universe and reschedule the event to now be February 4th and 5th.  My guest speakers worked with me, the hotel worked with me, and while sadly a few of my guests had to cancel because of scheduling conflicts (and for that I am very sorry), I know I can now give 150% of myself over the weekend event.

In fact a couple of people who had not been able to come on the original weekend can now come!

How about you? Can you join us? Are you ready to get more support over the new year?

If you are finding yourself trapped in suffering, not feeling creative enough, missing marketing opportunities or just not being on your top game – this could be a great opportunity for you!

As a new years “Beat the 15th” offer I will give $100 off the weekend event registration price to anyone new who registers before 11:59pm PST on January 15th.
