No Regrets

The best time of your life is now.

While the idea of today’s Victory Letter was generating in my mind, this morning’s frost that hit the garden makes today’s topic even more timely.

Think about the difference it could make if you walked into each day of your life saying the words that welcomed you to this week’s letter to yourself, “The best time of my life is now!”

My son recently shared a story on his social media that touched me deeply. He shared how when my mom was in her last few days of life battling ovarian cancer 13 years ago, he asked her a question. He asked her if she had any regrets.

Her answer and last words to him were, “No regrets.” What a cherished gift for a grandmother to give.

What I have found in this life is that in order to continuously feel the greatest joys and leave the sorrows behind, we need to think that the best is here right now. That challenges are just that, challenges, and not the be all end all in the fabric of our lives. Our challenges make us stronger and able to appreciate the good times with a deeper understanding.

The truth is the sun may shine tomorrow and it may not. And, we can have just as much of an open heart in the rain.

This season of fall is such a great reminder as the world transforms around us that we can’t stop change from happening. Change will happen as it happens. We can give our all to make it what we want it to be, and sometimes it turns out that way, and sometimes it does not.

Through it all we if we bring our best selves to the day, we help not only ourselves but those whose lives we touch in the process. Yesterday knowing the frost and end was coming, I spent time with my garden appreciating all that it has given me, just like I did with my mom all those years ago. No regrets.

Have yourself a great-filled week ahead.
