And happy May 1st!

In these days of instant satisfaction, I am always impressed by someone who plays the long game. And especially those who play it with grace, caring and a genuine love for what they do.

My dental hygienist, Liz, is/was, one of those people. Last Thursday I was her second to last patient as she headed into retirement at the end of that day. On Friday my husband and I along with 100’s of other patients she has served over the years celebrated at a wonderful party our dentist put on for her in Boulder.

The remarkable part is that she had served in her profession for 47 years! Yes, 47 years and worked for only 3 dentists. To see the love she had built in her community at the party was inspiring. Ed and I knew how much we loved having her take care of us and it was heartwarming to see that we were not the only ones.

We all have a story, and sometimes that story can be riddled with doubt. Think of the times you moved forward without doubt and just knew you were doing what you were destined to do. Maybe not for 47 years but for enough time to get past the initial doubt that sometimes hits us when we are doing something new, or even over the course of time.

This week on the podcast my guest is Joseph Bennett who just wrote the book, When in Doubt. As the subtitle of his book shares, it contains nearly 400 funny, insightful and inspiring ideas for what to do when you are in doubt.
