AI has no soul. – Casey Neistat

Happy Monday!

Hope your week is off to a good start. I have thoughts of AI on my mind this morning. Don’t know about you but it seems that I have been hearing about AI, Artificial Intelligence, about every other email, and in so many business and personal conversations over the last month.

One thing I can tell you is that the Victory Letter will never be written by AI. I know that it won’t because then it would lose the reason that I put into writing these words to you each week.

The words I have shared over these past 22 years has always been a streaming from my conscious and unconscious thoughts utilizing what I came to know years ago as a free write.

Know these thoughts will always authentically come from me, like a letter from a friend. Sure, from time to time I might rely on the old fashioned dictionary or thesaurus to tighten up my vocabulary once the words have been written.

That isn’t to say that I haven’t played a bit in Chat GPT, but more in a google research kind of way as I investigate ideas for projects I am working on.

As the discussions have happened around AI, from the deeper fears for the long term AI takeover, to the concern that we (collectively as humans) will stop thinking and using the creative gift we each have of putting thoughts and ideas together in our own minds.

And as Casey Neistat, shared recently on his You Tube channel, indeed this form of information gathering has no soul. I find it even a bit creepy thinking about where the ideas actually come from.

How do we verify that what is being shared is even correct? When does disinformation come into play? At least with Google you have a verified source from where the information is coming from to decide if it is valid or not.

The beauty of the free write that I learned so many years ago from my friend, colleague and writing coach Cynthia Morris is that it is the essence of tapping into your own thoughts by not pressuring them to come out.

It was the birth of the Victory Letter through those sessions with her. The reason I have been able to write this letter every week for all these years is because I don’t pressure myself to write – I allow myself to write consistently purely from my heart. I do this by allowing myself to think freely. To trust the outcome will be what it needs to be.

Some say, oh it’s easy for you because you are a writer. And my response is I became a writer because I write. This regular practice has allowed to have written two books and so much more. My third book remains in the working stages as I take on the task for looking for a book agent.

To wrap up today’s letter and this topic of AI, it comes down to remembering our humanity along our way. The gifts we have been given to think and share our own unique thoughts. Even to become more aware of our inner feelings by using the free write method to untap your inner thoughts.

There is no mystery to this method. You just begin to write either on the computer (which I like as I can go as fast as my thoughts) or there is writing long hand that can bring a life of its own to the paper.

The key is no pressure or having an expected result. You can start with a word or two as a prompt such as AI for me this morning. Free flow as you free write and that is where creativity and your authentic voice comes to life and creative play begins.

I thank you for the opportunity to share this letter with you each week.

Funny thing is this week’s letter is a bit longer than usual as apparently I was thinking quite a bit about this topic. Go figure.

With that I wish you a wonderful week ahead using your own natural intelligence. Guess we could call that NI.🤓
