Maybe, Maybe Not

“Endurance is the most difficult of disciplines, but it is to the one who endures that the final victory comes.”

- Buddha

Last weekend I took on another big bucket list challenge. I rode in an organized bike ride called the Tour of the Moon over the Colorado Monument taking on an elevation gain of 5500 feet over 43 miles with head winds that made it more like 53+ miles.

For years in my office has hung the poster from the Coors Classic professional bike race from many moons ago. It has been a beacon for me looking at the top cycling athletes of that time riding over the monument. The thought of riding it myself always scared me because I believed I didn’t have what it took to climb the steep mountains of the Monument.

Then as a spark of an idea does for us sometimes, I started to think maybe I could totally get past the maybe not, and then went past maybe and found myself climbing that mountain. The other side of my maybe was belief that I could do it and saying yes to totally committing to put myself out there one pedal at a time.

This month we are delving into the Mastermind Principal of Cooperation. In order to be able to cooperate with others we must start with ourselves first. We can’t ask someone else to cooperate with us using the word maybe or maybe not if we can’t commit to something we can’t ask anyone else to commit to either.

In the course of growing several businesses over the years I have found the same to be true. When you set your mind to something you really want, anything is possible. Endure and feel the many victories along your way both small and large. When you fall down brush yourself off and keep pedaling.

On today’s podcast I am sharing more about the challenge of biking over the Colorado Monument along with tips on how we can go from “maybe” to making strong clear decisions that take us to places we thought only others could go.

Sure, not every day will be as easy walk in the park. Some days you have to climb up the side of a mountain – and you know what? That is when you too throw out the thought of “maybe” and say an emphatic … Yes, let’s do this!
