Make Ripples

“If you're putting yourself out there with a product and service, and someone says no, you just move on.” - Liz Wendling

Happy Monday!

Have you ever gotten stuck in that little, yet big, word of, no? That point in time when you are excited to share something and the person you were trying to connect with simply was not interested. Perhaps the no was out loud, or maybe even worse you were left in uncertainty because they just ignored your calls or emails all together.

Leaving you in that case to only second guess that it was a no after all. And your reaction perhaps was to shut down with fear of sharing any further with anyone else because it was just too painful?

Well, I think I can say with confidence we have all been there at least one time or another. Those of us small business owners and entrepreneurs more often than others. There we are embracing the whole idea of being vulnerable and putting ourselves out there as we share hopes, ideas and dreams.

We really do have the choice to get stuck in the no’s, or keep going so the we can in fact open up the possibilities and rewards that the yes’s can bring.

My son Travis is here for the week with his girlfriend Kate as they get ready to embark on a new journey together over the months ahead. A couple of days ago, Trav put a little sign up in the shower that made a big impact with me. It simply said, Make Ripples.

Those two words have stuck with me as I think about this mantra to help myself and others to look past the no’s so that we can make more ripples by sharing the good that our ideas, products or services bring to the world.

Better known as selling. We can shy away from it, fearful of the no, knowing that it can be the difference between success and failure.

The sad truth is when we allow the no’s to win, we are no longer making ripples but instead potentially allowing the water to get so still that it can become stagnant. Cutting off not only our revenue stream but so much more, the good things we can be putting out into the world.

With these thoughts this week I want to offer you the insights to help you to take some action from this week’s podcast with Sales Coach Liz Wendling. What Liz is not, is a coach who makes you be someone other than yourself, you know that salesy salesperson, quite the opposite she shares how the best salesperson is the one who is authentic.

Take a listen or watch on You Tube and I know it will encourage you in best practices for moving away from getting stuck in the fear of the “no” and allow you to make the ripples you desire.

Take note that this will be the last new podcast for a bit as I take the time over these beautiful summer months of July and August to write, create, interview new guests and also record new videos for my You Tube channel. I like to think of it as being in the creative laboratory.

As we live out this last week of June 2023, I hope that the beauty and warmth of this season fills up your yes cup. Then we can make ripples together!
