Major Celebrations
Yes my friend this is a very special edition of the Victory Letter today. I have two major things to celebrate and one of them involves you. They both involve how each of us has a story.
That story contains a beginning, middle and at sometime it will have an end. It’s those people who fill in all those blanks in between that make all the difference in our lives.
I want to share with you today one of those people who has filled 30 years of my life with happiness. This would be my husband, Ed, who tomorrow I get to celebrate 30 years of marriage. How time really does fly by! Our wedding day seems just like yesterday.
On that day 30 years ago, with just a few people present in a little unknown park in Boulder we promised to love, honor, and to cherish eachother. It was a second marriage for both us, as we both previously had married way too young. While we were deeply in love, we were a bit concerned we would blow it again.
The song that became our song was “A Song for You” by Leon Russell, which is where todays quote came from. I will never forget my dad at the reception afterwards with all our friends looking puzzled at how unusual the song was for a first dance. However, the song was our special connection and it will always remain our song.
The song entered our life just as our relationship began to blossom. We tried to fight our feelings for each other, not wanting to lose our friendship that had happened first.
Ed likes to say about marriage, “It’s always a negotiation” and we have made a few of those along our way. Raising our two beautiful children, Travis and Bailey, and growing a few businesses as well has given us our challenges to be sure, but we have hung tough through it all to have some pretty amazing celebrations throughout the years. Today - without a doubt - I feel blessed to have this man as such an integral part of my life.
As you read this we are hanging out on the island of Negril in Jamaica! Although i’m leaving my inbox alone for the week, I will be posting a few shots of our adventure on Instagram. Would love for you to follow the celebration!
Now let’s get back to how this celebration involves you – I mean that is the reason why you’re reading this, right?!
This letter also marks the 15th anniversary of the Victory Letter and my opportunity to send out some words of encouragement every Monday for the past 15 years. There have only been a few missed Mondays along the way due to major life events, but for the most part this letter has become like a dear friend connecting me to you.
During the course of these letters I said goodbye to some wonderful people who left this planet, including my mom who guided me in so many ways to the path I was destined to walk. I miss her weekly edits and a part of her spirit will always remain in these letters. Perhaps it’s why I can’t even fathom of letting them go to the wayside. Once you put your heart, sweat, and tears into something it truly is nearly impossible to let it go.
As a gift to you, I’m offering a free download of my e-book Planting Seeds for Business Growth and Success. As you can tell with these letters over the years, I really like to show the similarities that plants and businesses have in common. This short book will really help those little seeds of an idea blossom into a forest of growth.
One last small favor: I would love for you to let me know in the comments below what the Victory Letter means to you arriving in your inbox each Monday and what things you would like to see in the future!
Thank you for helping me to make this letter possible. It means a great deal to me!
And as always...
To Your Successes and Victories,
