Losing Power

Mastering others is strength, mastering yourself is true power.

Happy Tuesday!

Yesterday I decided to take most of the day off to marvel at the world around me. With the Eclipse happening and getting past the weekend of no power due to winds that hit in some areas here in Colorado 100 miles an hour, I was ready to get some new energy. Some days we just need to re-power. Even if it is a Monday. ;)

Many thanks to those who responded to my email on Thursday asking about what hobbies you enjoy. Honestly, it has opened up a whole can of insights for me to explore. I loved the varied responses and what makes each of us happy with what we do when we create some leisure time for ourselves.

A dear friend of mine pondered the hobby question by first looking up what the meaning of a hobby actually is. Here the definition she discovered, and I believe it captures the importance of having hobbies in our life so well.

A pursuit outside of one’s occupation engaged in especially for relaxation.

I was going to share those responses today (names not included to honor your privacy) but wanted to ask the questions one more time and see if I could get a few more of you to respond to these three questions.  I will then share my results next week:

Do you have a hobby that sparks your creative self and allows you to take part in it on a regular basis?

If so, what is your hobby and why or how did you get engaged with it to start?

If no hobby why is that? Things like time, money, or no desire, to name a few.

Send me an email and let me know.

What has been intriguing me about exploring hobbies is that not only do they reduce stress, but they actually give us more internal power. Because after all doesn’t doing the things we love to do give us more happiness which in turn gives us more strength and power?

It sure can seem to be a necessity to get stuck in the day to day and put our favorite things to do on the shelf because we are “too busy”, or they seem to be too much trouble.

However, the element I am exploring is what if we made the things in life that make us happy a priority? While making money is of course important to our lives it is only a part of the puzzle.

Thanks for those who have participated so far and thanking you in advance if you would be so kind to reach out and share your answers to these hobby questions.

Remember anything is possible depending on what you love to do. I have heard so far everything from running to reading to dancing.  Anything can count as a hobby as long as it makes you happy and you are passionate about consistently engaging in making the hobby happen.

Enjoy my recent video on growing salad greens if you so desire. As my #1 hobby continues.

Here’s to lots of power to fuel you in this week of the Eclipse and New Moon. Which were so cool to watch to see the magnificence of our solar system. Guess you could say moon watching is a hobby of mine as well. Until next week…
