Hope your week has started off with a bounce in your step. I want to share with you today a little someone who can assist you along your way.
If you might have guessed by now today’s picture is of me. Little Cheri at about 3 or 4. I love the visual of her when I think of my inner child – the topic for discussion today.
Now there is much to say about this little inner child in each of us and much more in fact than I could begin to cover in this week’s letter. So, you can pick up more that I have to say in this week’s podcast which I am calling Confidence from Within – Meeting Your Inner Child
My Inner Child learned to be tough at a young age and saved me through some rough times in my childhood. I had nick named myself early on as Dashy Lynn because I wanted to be called Leslie Lynn (my true middle name) and it came out Dashy. An endearing name my mother used for me until she left the planet coming on 13 years ago.
With my mom gone, I find that I must honor even more the little girl she so loved. My inner Dashy Lynn is the part of me that loves to dance, be dramatic at times, be creative, and bottom line, she holds the gate open for me to be me. In her honor and the honor of your inner child today I wrote this little poem.
Inner Little Me
Inside each of us
Our inner child holds true
Smiling at the little things
We think, say, and do
With a sense of wonder
In the joy of laughter and play
Our inner child makes light
Of all that comes our way
No matter your age
Your inner child remains
Forgiving you of your missteps
And celebrating your gains
Acknowledge and be grateful
For this sweetness you hold inside
Play a little more mindfully
With your inner child as your guide
I had mentioned last week the release of A Course in Confidence. I decided to put some extra polishing touches and love into it and will have it for you next week on Valentine’s Day. So just another week for those of you who have been asking about it.
