Joy Filled Habits

The loss of not living in the Moment is this Moment.

– Cheri Ruskus

Well today I am finishing up my 66th trip around the sun. Tomorrow, I start a whole new trip. I think birthdays should be not only celebrated but especially the older we get, to be a time spent in reflection and gratitude.

Having just said the eternal goodbye last week to a beloved family member and friend, the reminder of how precious time is sits fresh in my mind. Colleen Balsley was the mother of my sister’s husband and someone who was greatly loved and revered. She built an amazing family around her that brought her so much joy. Her spirit will be with us always.

In thinking about the fragility of life the essence of joy we bring into it is so important. You no doubt know first-hand that in this fast paced, fill every moment society we live in we can find ourselves more often than not doing things because we “have” to not because we actually “want” to.

The habits and routines that we surround ourselves with are the opportunities to fill our moments with as much joy as possible. This can be difficult because of the obligations that might fill our days. In this week’s video I share some ideas from the book, Atomic Habits that I hope will assist you in thinking differently.

What if your habits, the behaviors that guide your days, were focused on the elements that brought you joy? Keeping your mind’s eye on the wants and ta da’s versus always the have to do’s.

Look at your schedule for this week and how many things are you committed to do that you actually want to do?

The time for change is possible in every given moment.

Onward we grow!

PS – Today’s picture is of a Dragon Fly in my garden. They seem to be following me around these days. I love the thought of this beautiful creature as a spirit animal. They are believed to bring with them an energy to embrace change, adaptability, transformation and spiritual growth. That makes me smile, how about you?
