Gifting Plants

"You leave the world with nothing except your story."
Patricia McCormick

The holidays are upon us and time to look at our Christmas stuff as we get ready to give each other more stuff.

I was reminded of this element of “stuff” over the past week as I went with my girlfriend Erica to some estate sales in Denver. Now I have never been to an estate sale before and honestly the experience blew my mind. In a good way.

It blew my mind so see so much stuff that was left behind in these people’s homes that they acquired during their time here on the planet. Now what I didn’t know was their story. I just saw all the stuff they couldn’t take with them. It was pretty surreal to tell you the truth.

I just kept thinking about what was their story and who were they? Who was sad that they were gone and what impact did they have while they were here?

So of course, it got me to thinking perhaps it is more important to work on our story then acquiring more stuff. Though truth be told we all seem to spend more time on the “stuff.”

I know I do and I want to work on that portion of my life.

With that perhaps an idea for potential holiday gifting is a living plant. How about paperwhite or amaryllis flowers. A gift idea you can customize for your own taste by planting bulbs in pots that will bloom in the weeks and even months ahead in some cases. And then when they are gone, they are gone. Like so many elements of growth.

In this week’s video I share how easy growing these flowers indoors can be.

This is what my theme for my YouTube channel @growyougirl is becoming all about. Remembering that a nurtured home and garden blooms with life. Now that’s a story to be told.

Wishing you a happy Thanksgiving week with lots of gratitude all around you.

 Onward we grow,

 Cheri
