Feeling the Pain
It’s hard to change the world when your feet hurt. – Sara Blakely
Dealing with pain. They say no pain no gain, but sometimes we may find ourselves questioning that philosophy. Most especially when it comes to pain, we are feeling in our bodies that may be slowing us down towards getting what we want in life.
And let’s face it the older we get the more those elements of pain can creep in.
With that in mind today, evaluate your current pain levels that might be slowing you down. Whether its physical pain or mental pain. What would you say, from 1 to 10, where are you when it comes to pain levels in your body right now? And then what can you do about it by taking control of your pain?
Last week Ed and I, while Travis was still here visiting, decided to take the actual plunge and get a cold plunge tub. I had tried getting into the icy water during a recent retreat I went to and loved the relief I felt in my injured knees. The cold water has many restorative values when it comes to healing the body.
Check out our initial experience with our new tub here it was pretty enlightening, and we are now on day 6 of doing it every day! It has been amazing!
As I think about it this morning, the living of life is all around getting past the pain. Doing hard things that test us, challenge us, and take us toward finding a pain free zone again.
With Labor Day weekend happening in just a few days we will be looking towards the end of the summer season with fall now less than a month away.
This is always a mixed time for me as I will need to start wrapping up my garden for the season. Honestly, in some ways after a summer full of grasshoppers it is a relief.
However, it is also a hard for me to say goodbye to all my beautiful flower friends, the bees, the sweet birds and even my friend the toad who I have named Gus who has been hanging out with me all summer. And… nature has made it that I have no choice, making it is a great exercise in letting go of pain and the things we can’t do anything about.
This week’s video is a tour of my garden from this past week and I hope you enjoy.
Perhaps the motto to take with us this week is, feel the pain and do it anyway. Enjoy the good in life because after all, isn’t it is what makes the pain worthwhile?
Wishing you a wonderful Labor Day weekend ahead! Until next week…
Onward we grow!
