Color Your World

color is something that brightens the world

Could you imagine if the world were only in black and white?

It’s quite difficult for me to imagine such a colorless world - perhaps because I was raised with crayon in my hand. When I think of a world of just black and white, I always think about my childhood days when I would take the black and white coloring book page and turn it into a world of color. The smell of crayons always triggers my imagination as I think of the magic of color.

Sometimes in my coloring book I would color really slow, making my pictures “perfect.” Other times, I would race with my siblings to see how many pages we could color in a period of time.  It was so simple then, and my artistic confidence was at an all time high.

Then of course, life continued to shift and flow. As time went on I created using different mediums - including ink cartridge pens (remember those?), watercolors, color-by-number, and even painting.

And then as the tech bubble began to grow, somehow my inner artist turned to the computer screen. I still remember the first time I watched my first Mac transform colors right before my very eyes at the click of a button. No matter what medium I used, creating color always seemed like magic.

As we move into this month of February, I want to pay homage to the glorious gift of color. All this month here at the Victory Circles we are focusing on the Master Mind Principle of Self Confidence.

Somehow the power of color has always played a role in kicking my confidence up a notch or two. Whether creating something unique with the crayons or simply enjoying mother natures amazing contributions (especially at sunrise and sunset), color has an incredible power to fill my spirit with joy.

Creating our own color can brighten the day - as my nephew Jack shared in today’s quote during a recent family discussion on our favorite colors. I would challenge you to pay attention to the colors you surround yourself with and how they make you feel. Even the color of paint on the wall can make a significant difference to how you feel.

When it comes to marketing a recent infographic by Homestead shares this about color:

Red - Creates urgency, encourages appetite, associated with movement, excitement and passion.

Blue - A color preferred by men and associated with peace, water, tranquility and reliability.

Green - Health, power, nature, brain harmony and balance leading to decisiveness.

Purple - Royalty, wisdom and respect, problem solving and creativity.

Black - Authority, power, stability and strength.

Grey - Practicality, Old Age and solidarity.

White - Projects feelings of purity, cleanliness and safety.

I would love to see your thoughts about color!

My favorite color is green and has been since I was a little girl. It gives me a sense of belonging, which makes me feel confident and empowered.

How about you? In the comment section below please your favorite color, and why?

This week, pay attention to the color you have been surrounding yourself with. If you notice that you are not surrounding yourself with your favorite colors, shake it up and color your world!
