Big Week Ahead
The Future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. - Eleanor Roosevelt
Somehow, someway we have arrived at the last week of August with September 1st happening on Thursday. It is a big week in our household as my husband, Ed officially retires from his job on Friday. A job he has had at Ball Aerospace for the last… are you ready… 42 years!
What a huge accomplishment for him and we are planning a week of celebrations. Our grown children have come home to participate in the fun. In this moment as I write this morning’s Victory Letter, I am feeling quite blessed with those I love sleeping peacefully in the house, as I write this in the early morning light of the garden.
Now, I have a question for you…
Do you have a goal that you hold strong in your heart? Something that you have a dream and strong desire to bring to life. No matter what stage of achieving it you are in.
I ask because I shared with you at the beginning of summer that I am working on a book and the main theme in the words I am writing is around finding the focus for our most important goals in life.
Happy to report at 30,000 words my writing so far has brought together some research, memoirs, and thoughts to ponder. It was interesting on Saturday night as some friends of my daughters came over for dinner, I asked this question about goals. Her friend’s response was honest, and I feel holds true for many.
She said, “I stopped having goals because then I don’t have to worry about being disappointed about them not coming true.”
I found this sad coming from a young 30 something – almost a defeat at such an early stage of life.
What about you? Do you have goals in front of you that are helping you move forward in your life towards the people, circumstances, and life situations that truly matter most to you?
I honestly would like to know as much as you would like to share in a private reply email back to me. Your answers would be of great assistance in my book with of course held confidentiality. And of course no right or wrong just what is true for you.
With that I wish you a fulfilling week ahead as we cruise into September. And for my husband Ed, I wish you new dreams as we cruise together into your future!
