Be the Cause

“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” -Theodore Roosevelt

As we arrive once again to the beginning of a new week, I have a question for you. What is a cause, action or condition that you find worth paying more time and attention to, in order to see what you personally want to have happen in the world? Whether it’s global or in your own backyard.

I shared in last week’s letter Ed and I traveled the highways and bi-ways of Colorado, Utah, Nevada and California in late July and early August to attend our daughter’s wedding.

If you have never driven this route the scenery is spectacular, and it always makes me appreciate this beautiful earth we live on so much more. The complexity and simplicity of this planet is truly amazing.

From Zion National Park depicted in today’s picture above to Capital Reef National Park we have been given an amazing gift here in the west that is accessible to each of us. This beauty is there for us as long as we respect and ensure that it is available in all its majestic glory for generations to come.

Interestingly enough the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has not had a confirmed director for the entire time the current federal administration has been in office. The person who was nominated in June has a strong and deep history of wanting to sell off government lands for commercial development. Thankfully his nomination was pulled in the last few days.

However, we are far from keeping these lands in the west safe from unrepairable harm if we allow the start of bulldozing and drilling for oil as has been sought after in recent years.

As Teddy Roosevelt also said, “Of all the questions that come before this nation, short of the actual preservation of its existence in a great war, there is none which compares in importance with the great central task of leaving this land even a better land for our descendants than it is for us.”

This is a cause I can wrap my arms and heart around. I want to pay more attention to this “because” I would love to someday take my grandchildren to these beautiful places, just as I did my children, and have them take their grandchildren.

Sometimes it may seem like we have no power to make change happen, but I believe with the right information, attention and efforts to show the concern to you, the “because” becomes your cause.

What do you think? Again, I ask you what are the causes that matter to you that you can learn more about, voice your opinion on, and then if necessary, stand up to make a difference?

And of course, in an extremely pivotal election year paying attention to those candidates that care about your cause as much as you do. We must all vote.

Reply to this email and let me know what is important to you. I really would love to know.

After all, in the end, we are all in this together!

Have a great week ahead.

P.S. I will be sharing more of these beautiful places we visited on my Instagram this week @VictoryGirl please follow me over there if you haven't done so yet.
