Acceptance

The words of today’s Victory Letter are written, summer is officially over in more ways than one.

Here in Colorado we went from 90 degrees late yesterday to an expected 28 degrees tonight, and snowfall coming this afternoon.

Pretty crazy right?

On top of it all Denver was rated #2 in the world on Sunday for poor air quality due to a now nearly 100,000 acre fire that got out of control over the weekend as it headed into Rocky Mountain National Park.

While the snow is bad news for the plant life for this season it will help to put the fire out. A silver lining that w is helping me with the acceptance of what this means to my garden.

Last week I was busy in my garden eliminating what seemed like 100’s of grasshoppers. Since I have an organic garden I was crazed and determined to keep them from decimating my flowers by getting rid of them one by one.

As soon as I heard the forecast for snow that urgency changed because mother nature was taking over and had a whole other plan. I in turn had to change my plans in order to focus on getting the garden ready for what is now happening to it.

Yesterday as I sat in my garden feeling gratitude for all the flowers and veggies, I made peace with what I didn’t want to have happen, allowing me to start allowing the acceptance part to happen.

This morning I will admit I shed a few tears as we put the plastic tarps around the garden deciding which plants would live and knowing which ones will now die a premature death.

When you do what you can each day then you have to let go and accept what the universe brings to your door. The nice thing about having a heads up about the snow is that I took a video tour of my garden a couple of days ago that I would like to share with you today in the video above

Without a doubt this has been a year full of testing us in how to apply acceptance into our lives. Yes 2020 seems to be the year that keeps handing us more than we knew we could take. My hope is that you too have found acceptance in these crazy times.

Yesterday as I harvested many flower bouquets and veggies I kept thinking of the words, It’s better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.

Tomorrow I am teaching an online Instagram workshop for the Boulder SBDC. The workshop is at 10am mountain time and free. Instagram for Business The Time Is Now - Register Here.

Accept what you can in the week ahead! Let’s take this short week and make it a good one!
