Suck It Up!

Trust Your Gut.   – Sara Blakely

Happy Fall Equinox,

This morning at 1:50 am mountain time the Fall Equinox happened. This annual event happened without our input or any of us having to do anything. Today and in the weeks ahead, we will begin watching the all the changes that come from this passing of time.

In last week’s Victory Letter, I talked about Joy igniting Freedom and being aware of overfilling the proverbial plate while focusing on what brings us joy.  I got a lot of positive feedback from everyone. The reality in life is that some things happen in life we have control of and sometimes we have no control of at all.

Would I prefer to have more summer weather here in Colorado and have my garden go on and on – of course but the reality is that I have to suck it up and welcome what is without regret or remorse. As I begin to put my garden “to bed” for the fall and winter season ahead I need for my own peace of mind to make steps towards the garden being even better next spring.

As kids we sucked it up having to do the unpleasant things we didn’t want to because our parents told us to – or at least I did for the most part. ;)

As a young entrepreneur I found a whole new need to suck it up once I made the initial investment into my first business in my twenties. There wasn’t a boss anymore to blame things on – the buck stopped with me.

As a young mom wow that was a lot of sucking up to be done especially when the kids were sick, then I got sick and they really didn’t care.

Sometimes it can be because of things out of our control as I have mentioned. However, and here is the crazy part, most of the time when we have to suck it up and do something we don’t want to it is based around our fear of the unknown in doing it. We are scared to take the leap that will take us closer to where our dreams are waiting for us.

On this week’s podcast we are taking a deeper dive into this topic along with some tools around stepping into the right mindset that comes when we decide to suck it up and go for it. To do that thing we think we cannot do. Which to clarify is so different than just quitting.

I also am sharing with you a video of my grand puppy who recently came to visit.  I was able to capture how she pushed back her fear of swimming live on a short little video. Her own version of sucking it up.  For her, the tennis ball was her great reward!

Watch this 1-minute video and then listen to the podcast above. Here’s to rethinking what you are willing to suck up for and what you are not.

Our instincts, our gut, as Sara Blakely the founder of Spanx and a woman who knows how to suck it up, shares in today’s quote is something we absolutely have to trust in this process. To pay attention when it’s in our best interest, or in the interest of someone we love. To push through those steps to be taken, or that fear that at times can be incredibly uncomfortable and sometimes downright terrifying.

Today not only marks the Fall Equinox but the last 100 days of 2019. Are you ready? Let’s go make whatever we need to make happen, happen.

Have an amazing Fall season ahead!
