Making it About You

The day you plant the seed is not the day you see the flower...

Well, Fall has arrived and October along with the last quarter of the year is just days away. Not only is it time to start dusting off those sweaters and boots but to also start thinking about what you want for the last quarter, aka Q4, of 2022.

Now there are those who say you should plan, others who say what will happen will happen, and I like to think of it somewhere right in between the two of those options.

I listened to someone today who talked about filling every moment in your calendar with time blocking and honestly, I was exhausted just listening. I like to think of planning in a couple of segments. First to take a deep breath and just get grounded in the moment. To fully feel present in my head and heart. Yep, my planning moments are all about me and why not? Just as yours should be all about you.

Making the time to let go of what is not serving me as I have shared numerous times in this letter in the past (remember all Victory Letters are archived here on the blog). Those people, places, and other things in your life that may feel like huge weights that are taking you nowhere. Sometimes you can let go immediately and depending on the complexity of what it is, make a plan to step out of whatever it is over a given time frame. That is where planning can really get you unstuck.

Then it’s on to planning what you want as you gaze into your crystal ball of the future.

If I am looking for less stress in my life – which heck aren’t most of us - I like to use this formula:

1. All the things I actually want to do, my TA DA’s versus "to do’s".

2. Places I want to see, feel, and experience in one way or another.

3. Friends and family to love and if possible spend more time with.

4. New business connections, ways to enhance current relationships.

5. Financial goals I want to achieve.

6. Messages I want to share.

7. Peace I can help to keep in the world.

8. Music to I want to not only listen to but sing.

9. Lyrics to write - even if metaphorically.

10. Ways that will allow me to simply be the best me.

To do this I use my paper planner I have created (and will be sharing in its entirety in the near future) as I ease into each day. While I keep a online planner for scheduling appointments everything is just better on paper in my opinion. In the week ahead Ed and I are actually spending a good deal of time together adventuring each day, as we plan what our life will look like together as a family unit (new puppy included) and as life partners.

What is your top ten items you want to make sure are on your Q4 planning list?

The sooner we get to planting those seeds the sooner we will be watching the flowers of our labors. If I can be of assistance in your planning process, I am just an email or phone call away. Want to schedule a call? Simply use this link.

Happy Q4 Ahead!
