Make America Grateful Again

Unless you have been living on an island somewhere, you are as painfully aware as I am that here in the United States tomorrow is Election Day.
I know that I need to tread lightly in the area of politics here in the confines of the Victory Letter realizing that my readers share a wide spectrum of political beliefs. It’s important to me to honor and respect each individual’s beliefs something that I think has been lost in this grueling election process.
Everyone’s thoughts and opinions should matter because after all this is still America right? I must share that in the 40 years that I have been voting I don’t think any of us has seen quite an election like this one that has us all scratching our heads as to where we go from here - no matter who is elected for President.
A few months ago my husband and I started wearing t-shirts that stated the words, “Make America Grateful Again.” We did it because win or lose if we can’t be grateful for this country and the lives we are able to have right now today how can we build for tomorrow.
No matter who gets elected for the role of president on Tuesday November 8, 2016, will you support whoever wins? The truth is we will never be able to find someone everyone agrees on. It’s hard for me too, however I am making a commitment to support the efforts of our new President.
As concerned as I am about the outcome, all week long I have been thinking about how I have supported presidents in the past that I didn’t vote for. That support is what will make us strong and united.
Wishing you some peace of mind as you vote or if you have already voted. As we do so let’s remember to be grateful for all we actually do have in this country. Just remember to vote and nudge your grown children, nieces or nephews, neighbors and friends to do the same.
I believe that each of us can make a difference with our attitudes, the work we do each day, and holding our heads up high knowing at the end of the day we did all that we could. Staying above the negative, naysayers who simply want to blame someone else.
