Imagination Recharge

clear thinking never comes from a worried mind victory circles

As June has now arrived it’s time to put on our imagination hats! In fact, what I love about summer is that it is such a great time for an imagination recharge. As we delve into the Master Mind Principle of Imagination this month, let’s start by removing the items in your business that aren’t serving you in getting your creative juices flowing.

Nothing dampens the flow of imagination and the dreaming process that gets it rolling quite like the fret and fro that comes from worry.

Whether it comes at 3am in the dark of the early morning or 2pm in the middle of the work day – it never serves us well.

Simply by letting go of worry and letting things flow naturally, my life has changed dramatically - especially in my capacity as a writer.

A classic must read in dealing with worry is Dale Carnegies, How to Stop Worrying and Start Living.  First published in 1944, his simple methodologies for depleting worry from your life still hold just as true today.

He shared how he banished 90% of his worries by following these four simple steps:

  1. Write down precisely what you are worrying about
Seeing it in writing will make it fully visible and real

  2. Write down what you can do about it
Make sure to write all possible solutions - even if they seem far fetched

  3. Decide what to do about it
Decisive results will keep you from pondering and creating more worry

  4. Start immediately to carry out that decision
Actions always speak louder than words or thoughts for that matter

He also shared methodology for creating Day Tight Compartments which are comprised of shutting the iron door on the past and the future in the realization that the only thing you fully have power to contribute to is the present. It doesn’t mean that you ignore the future completely however most worry lies in things that have not yet happened and of course may never happen.

Ask yourself these five questions and write down your answers

  1. Do I tend to put off living in the present in order to worry about the future?
  2. Do I sometimes embitter the present by regretting things that happened in the past that are over and done with?
  3. Do I get up in the morning determined to “Seize the day” and get the most out of these next 24 hours?
  4. Can I get more out of life by “living in day-tight compartments”?
  5. When shall I start to do this? Next week? Tomorrow? … Today?

One thing for sure is that both our body and mind come together to help us to deal with worry.  So here are a couple of recommendations for both.
