Gratitude Vibes
One word frees us of all the weight and pain of life:
that word is love.
Happy Monday!
It’s gratitude week! Yes, that is how I have come to think of Thanksgiving week. And no, it’s not about the pilgrims or the turkey for me. Or even the killer shopping deals that are coming at the end of the week (though many have already started).
For me, thanksgiving is a holiday that has come to mean much more about sharing my gratitude for those I love more than anything else. As a mostly vegetarian for five years now (I do eat some fish from time to time), the idea of sitting around the table eating a turkey doesn’t fill my soul in any way. But what does fill my soul about the holiday is to be with those I love that mean so much to me.
How about you? What has this holiday come to mean for you?
Over the course of the last couple of weeks I had the opportunity to hang out with my daughter, son-in-law, childhood girlfriends, and their families in Southern California. The event that brought us together was a wedding that brought many smiles, love and of course dancing!
After all the fun, Ed and I headed up to Santa Barbara for a couple of days before heading home. You can see more of our trip here. One of the first things we did when got to Santa Barbara was to visit the cemetery where my great Aunt Ruth and Uncle Neil were laid to their eternal rest.
It was a beautiful afternoon and after paying homage to my Aunt and Uncle we walked around their beautiful cemetery which overlooks the Pacific Ocean. We came across many tombstones that always make me wonder about the lives of those people that once walked this earth and how their passing effected those they loved.
As we sat on a bench overlooking the beautiful ocean below (todays pic was taken from this spot) we watched as a young man came to a gravesite nearby. He left flowers, spent time there eating his lunch and just hanging out.
After he left, we walked past the gravesite he had been visiting on our way back to our car. The woman who this young man had come to honor had died at the young age of 35. The words of today’s quote were the words that were inscribed on her tombstone. Under those words it was written, We Love You Mom and then the small children’s signatures of Jenner, Crosby, and Casey.
I realized that it was 30 years to that day we stood there that this young woman had passed away. Her son as I guessed was one of those 3 children. And after 30 years his love for his mom remains strong and present.
Love is a funny thing, coming and going through different stages of our lives. Loves that left us and loves that have stood the test of time. Those people that are in our life today and those who have left this life for the great beyond. Leaving a part of themselves embedded in our soul’s forever. I encourage you over the course of this week to be sure and feel that love with all your heart.
To help you with this effort, and as we head into this week ahead, I have created a short little Morning Momentum video meditation that is all about feeling your gratitude vibes. Especially around the people, places, animals and other things you love most in your life. I took this video footage during one of the beautiful Santa Barbara morning sunrises over the ocean.
Give yourself some time for finding peace of mind during these days ahead. Please know how grateful and blessed I feel to have you as a part of my community.
The cool thing about today’s picture and the reason I took it was because I could see angel’s wings in the clouds. Can You?
