Freedom Free Fall

the eyes experience less stress

How far can your creative reach take you?  In other words, as todays quote illuminates, how wide are your horizons?

This Friday marks the 244th anniversary of the good 'ol US of A, a country I hold near and dear to my heart since I was born here a few decades ago.

On July 4th 1776, some very bold Creatives (also known as the fore fathers) of this great country gave us independence from the Brits who were trying to squash any form of individualism. There is so much I honor about this place - especially here in Colorado.

Today I want to talk about the place you work every day where hopefully you find some of your creative independence.

Last December, I decided that it was time to move out of my home office that I had been operating my business out of for 12 years.  I had originally moved home to be closer to my kids who were back then approaching their teenage years.  I knew the major disadvantages and trouble that abounds in being a latch key kid - having been one myself.

With my kids now adults, I became ready to have a place other than going across the hall every morning to grow my business.  I found a place in Boulder that served my needs and signed a 6-month lease.  As that lease came up for renewal here in June, I knew that there was a creative link missing in this space I was now calling home to my business.

A key element for me was that I didn't have a window to see the outside world and it was shutting down my creativity working in such a enclosed space.  I began to find myself more and more back at my home office doing my creative work!

One day I realized how my creativity was diminishing at the office, so I jumped on Craigslist and found the perfect office situation for me - complete with amazing views of the Flatirons. After moving in last week I can feel an energy shift already!

I share this with you because our horizons that we look at each and every day can allow us to develop the creative freedom that we all crave. When we don't have enough creative time we can see all kinds of issues popping up.

Stop right now and look around at the space that you spend your waking hours in doing your "work" - do you love it?  Or do you simply put up with it?  If you could change one thing about your work space what would that be? Please share in the comment section below

The word liberty comes to mind - the ability to have free will and the freedom of choice.  As we celebrate this 4th of July where does your freedom ring? Think of it as a freedom free fall...taking you where you want and need to go. Have a great 4th and let your freedom ring!
