Finding Independence
Freedom is nothing else but a chance to be better.
– Albert Camus
Happy Tuesday!
What does independence mean to you?
And happy July! In two days, we celebrate the 4th of July that has been called Independence Day since July 4, 1776. Quick little historical fact is that this day did not become a national holiday until June 28, 1870. Talk about taking our time to fully feel the good news.
With everyone on their way towards a very short work week as we celebrate this year with an extra-long weekend. Try these steps to assist you towards finding the independence you desire.
Find new opportunities for what you want in your life.
Remember those who support you best.
Exhale as often as you can.
Enjoy each of the moments you are given.
Devote yourself to what you love most.
Optimize how your life functions best.
Make your independence matter.
Check out this week’s video to get your imagination going in the days ahead.
Here is a lovely poem sent to me by my dear friend Nancy that can assist in our thinking towards independence as well.
As Time Goes by Donna Ashworth
As time goes by,
You will loosen your grip on that rock,
The one you always thought was home,
And you will realize that home is not a place,
It’s a state of mind.
Let it go.
As time goes by,
You will learn to see yourself more clearly,
The girl who was always too much of one thing,
And too little of another, was actually
Everything she needed to be.
Let her out.
As time goes by,
You will let the simple things become the big,
And you will allow the big things to become the simple,
And that readjustment will be,
The day you really start to live,
Let it be.
As time goes by,
You will be forced to say goodbye many times,
And your soft little heart will shatter but,
It will still beat and that will bring you,
All the purpose you need.
Let it beat.
As time goes by,
You will stop choosing wealth over peace,
You will stop choosing money over time,
And you will see that the treasures you need,
Are in the smiles and the laughter.
Let them in.
As time goes by,
The moments you remember when your life flashes past,
Are never the awful memories my friend, it’s the joy,
The summer nights, the lazy days with loved ones,
The midnight chats and the morning hugs,
Let them happen.
Let them all happen.
Wishing you lots of fireworks in the days ahead in whatever form you like best.
Onward we grow!
