Digging Deeper
This week’s Victory Letter has compelled me to honor a man who has come in and out of my life. Always it seemed, when I needed to hear his words most. The man I am talking about is the man who wrote today’s quote, Dr. Wayne Dyer.
I had shared today’s quote in a Victory Letter a number of years back. That letter was included in my last book, under the chapter on Self Confidence. If anybody embodied true self-confidence, it was Dr. Wayne Dyer. From his bare feet on stage, to his open sense of humor, to his incessant need to share his messages around all walks of life… we are all living a better, richer, fuller life because of him.
Though I never had the opportunity to meet him personally, I did have an excellent experience a few years back to hear him speak from the stage at a fairly intimate gathering. Add that to the countless videos I have watched and the many books of his that line the shelves of my personal library, I really do feel like I lost a friend that mentored me in keeping alignment along my own journey.
We think of him today as a man who lived a successful life. For myself in my role also as an author, I highly admire that he had the intense concentration and focus to write 41 books - most of them originally being hand written on notepads!!
What was real for him was that he had a tough upbringing. During that live talk when I got to see him speak, I loved when he shared about selling books out of the trunk of his car. But by constantly sharing love, knowledge, and wisdom with others his poverty soon turned into abundance.
In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres in 2007, he said these words about his journey, “I’ve always believed a brick wall is just there for people who don’t really care enough or don’t really want something badly enough. And I wanted this very, very badly.”
Having been sitting for the past year pondering over ideas and inspirations for my next book, it has given me encouragement to move the brick walls that I have subconsciously laid in front of myself and to begin the journey of book number three. Thanks again Wayne for telling me what I needed to hear, just when I needed to hear it.
As an extra bonus today I want to share with you an inspirational reading I shared in August at our Victory Circles live meetings. It was an excerpt and adaptation from his book, Excuses be Gone.
In the comment section below, I highly encourage you to share any experience you had with the teachings of Dr. Wayne Dyer along your own journey.
Here’s to the stories we will live in the months ahead and as always…
