Building Cooperation
How many times in your life have you been around a group of people that you knew collectively together you fit each other like a glove – your perfect peeps?
As a new month unfolds in the week ahead we step into our annual look at the Master Mind Principle of Cooperation. The principle of coming together with others so that we can work in tandem with each other to create some really fantastic results.
With this I want to admit a little secret about a Netflix obsession I have had as of late – the classic TV show Friends. There is something about those characters in that show (Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Chandler, Ross and Joey) that just works like clockwork.
I am fascinated with how well the actors played these roles to fully bring them to life and work off of each other. They created 10 years of comic genius, making me laugh over and over again. Interestingly, on their own they have had success in their acting careers - but nothing that compares to what they did together.
So often we try to do too many things on our own. Those of you entrepreneurs reading this know exactly what I mean. We can start to think that no one does it better than we do or thinking we can’t afford to have anyone help us. By doing so we end up filling our days with too much work that doesn’t serve our business growth and can fry our brain, body, and spirit.
The end result from this kind of burnout that I have seen personally in my own businesses in the past and those of my clients is not bringing the full potential of the business to life.
A good team can be vendors who work closely with your business to insure your success, or it can even be bringing on a Coach or Mentor who becomes your sounding board and accountability buddy.
Just this past week I had a client share an “aha” moment that we had during a coaching session that has dramatically changed the course of her business model. She went from hesitation to excitement on the direction of her business in the course of just one conversation. Talking to the right people for advice can be a powerful and life changing action.
Today’s picture of the week was taken while on a Victory Circles retreat last week on the west coast with my team down in Santa Cruz, CA. What I loved about this picture and those subsequent pics you can find over on the blog is that here was a team of people learning to paddle board in the ocean. It was cool to watch it unfold as they learned together on land and then headed off in the water to explore the unknown together.
A Few Questions About Cooperation and You
1) How often do you find yourself just going it alone?
2) Who is or isn’t on your team right now that can make all the difference?
3) What if you stopped long enough to really chart out what your ideal team around you would look like and how you could make that happen?
Here’s to the great team you build around you on all levels!
Looking forward to sharing more insights and thoughts on this topic in the weeks ahead.
