Brave Connections
Who would you love to collaborate with using ease and grace?
The important art of cooperation gets lost in the needs to be right and usually all parties lose in one-way or another.
No matter what side of the fence each of our beliefs sits on - when do we stop blaming someone for not believing what we believe and work towards being able to blend ideas and opportunities?
With the Master Mind Principle of Cooperation on our plate to explore this month here in the Victory Circles I was surprised and delighted when the next book on my reading list became Braving the Wilderness by Brene Brown (the audiobook version is my favorite).
While the book was not exactly what I expected it was exactly what I needed. I was pleasantly surprised and quickly got into the message of her next no doubt best selling book.
Here are 3 key elements from the book that got me stop and think about this important and life-changing topic of cooperation:
1. Conflict Transformation
Changing the term conflict resolution to conflict transformation and really thinking about what that implies. Transformation in its definition includes change in position of axis. How can we change our axis – our alliances to include more thoughts and ideas that differ from our current ones?
2. Brave Leadership
Creating a culture of true belonging and having others feel as they belong even if you share different belief systems. This is when true growth and learning occurs. This is the place where we can find peace though the road at first might be bumpy.
3. Human Connection
Moving beyond having things being lousy and spending our days looking at the world pissed off because we cannot find perfection. Having the difficult conversations not with anger at the core but with a desire to find that true resolution for all parties concerned.
Questions for Reflection
- How brave are you in your daily quest to collaborate and cooperate?
- What is getting in the way from asking a potential collaborator to meet over a cup of coffee?
- How can you remove this obstacle?
